What is your Astrological sign?

liz black=- virgo symbol

I’m a Virgo and I’m definitely the not-so-much fun perfectionist type. My house isn’t clean, I don’t look immaculate, but I’m very unromantic and often straight to the point.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When you would ask me what I wanted to be, I would give you a range of answers, usually depending on the book I had just read. Ballet dancer, actress, administrative worker, bookshop employee etc, but I would always add: and writer of course. Even then I was aware I would always write.

When did you first start writing?

I learned to write when I was four years old. I was bored with what they taught at kindergarten, so my mother made sure I had training material at home to learn how to read and write.
I think it was shortly after that I made up my first stories. I remember writing one-page tales about kids going to the zoo or to an amusement park. I especially had a lot of fun coming up with names :p

What led to the idea of your blog/site/niche/etc.?

Four years ago I decided to dedicate my life to my sexuality, to acknowledge it and make it a central part of my daily life in the form of a writing career. When I tried to find freelance work, I noticed they would often ask for sample work online. I figured the easiest way would be to start a blog, even though that was a lame thing to do in 2018. I never expected to meet and connect with fellow bloggers and even form online friendships 😀

What are you most proud of accomplishing? Either in blogging or in general? Why?

I’m most proud of being an affiliate and toy tester for Wow Tech Group, the company behind Womanizer, WeVibe and ArcWave.
I remember being mesmerised by the Womanizer toy and wondering how it worked, long before I started testing at all. And then they send me an email if I wanted to test and review their products! To this day, I can hardly believe it.

I’m also proud of still being a toy tester for easytoys.nl going on ten years now. That may not sound like much of an accomplishment but they were the first to offer me toys to review and I’m proud to have kept it up for so long.

I’m very proud I’ve found an audience for my work and my style of writing, both via my blog and on Medium.

What is one book everyone should read?

It may be a cliche, but I’m gonna say the ‘Lord of the Rings’ books by J.R.R. Tolkien. I can’t wrap my head around how much work went into writing these books, complete with languages and family lines and everything. The depth of these works is just astonishing. In my stories I have trouble remembering the name of the best friend, let alone the name of her great-great grandmother.

I also want to add a movie everyone should watch, everyone with some interest in BDSM and sex that is.

I recommend the movie ‘Quills’ about the last years of Marquis de Sade.

Quills re-imagines the last years of the Marquis’s incarceration in the insane asylum at Charenton. It stars Geoffrey Rush as de Sade, Kate Winslet as laundress Madeleine “Maddie” LeClerc, Joaquin Phoenix as the Abbé du Coulmier, and Michael Caine as Dr. Royer-Collard. Tell us about your favourite song of all time.

Nasty Naughty Boy’ by Christina Aguilera. It’s the only song that can make me ‘sway’ and dance and feel sexy. I can only listen to it and sing along while alone 😂

If they made a movie about you, who do you think would play you?

I would love for Natalie Dormer to play me. We’re born in the same year and I love many of the productions she’s been in, from the Tudors to Elementary and, yes, even Game of Thrones. And next to that I find her incredibly sexy.

What quote defines the way you live your life?

Be true to yourself, think for yourself and let others be

Liz Black

It’s like the golden rule: treat others how you want to be treated. I don’t need to have the same beliefs or opinions as you, but we can debate them and then go live our lives the way we want. The same goes for BDSM: your kink isn’t my kink and that’s okay.

What is your favourite recipe?

  1. Fascinating to find out a little bit more about you Liz. It amuses me that you say you don’t want the typically romantic things, and yet you can write with such tenderness and romantic tendencies. I agree with May – excellent quote.
