Preheat oven to 350F/180C
In large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter together until fluffy.
In medium bowl, whisk flour and baking soda together. Add salt and sugar.
Mix dry ingredients with wet ingredients, and mix until well blended.
Roll dough onto flour surface to 1/4 inch or 6 mm thickness an cutout into rounds (use a glass or a cookie cutter).
Place 2 inches or 5 cm apart and press thumb into center of each cookie lightly.
fill each cookie with 1/4 tsp jam of choice.
Bake each pan for 10-12 minutes, until edges are browned.
Chill on cooling rack and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
