Simple Lo Mein

A simple recipe with simple ingredients. Make as a salad, a side dish or add a protein to make it a meal.

Equipment

  • 1 bowl large
  • 1 pot for boiling water
  • measuring spoons
  • 1 pan for frying Lo mein is Cantonese for "stir fried"

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce a mixture of light and dark or regular
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp honey

Lo Mein

  • 4-6 oz uncooked noodles ramen, spaghetti, or the like
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 green onion chopped
  • 3 cups julienned vegetables carrot, red pepper, cabbage, bok choy, mushroom & broccoli are all good choices
  • 1-2 tbsp rice vinegar mirin works wonders in this recipe, but sake is good too!

Instructions

  • Mix sauce ingredients together.
  • Cook noodles according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • Heat sesame oil in pan, add half green onion and vegetables when hot. Stir fry until fork tender (or desired). Add rice wine and loosen bits stuck to pan.
  • Add noodles to pan, and half sauce. Toss to combine. Add more sauce as needed.
  • Top with remaining green onions.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

If you add a protein, stir fry it BEFORE the vegetables and remove from heat while veggies cook! Add right before last mix.
