Week 81 Recommended Read

The Lover by Marguerite Duras

Week 81 recommended read
image from Goodreads

I’ll admit this book isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a short read to waste an afternoon on the beach, this book may be for you.

The Lover is an autobiography placed 55 years before it was written in French Colonial Vietnam. When a destitute French girl is spotted by the son of a wealthy Chinese-Vietnamese businessman, the two begin an illicit affair. On the discovery to find out who she will become, this tale takes us on the ride where scorn will become the norm, and heartbreak the result.

This short read explores feminism in a time it didn’t belong, love, loss, and life as an outsider. Plus, it’s only 128 pages, so what do you have to lose?

Week 81 recipe

Pizza is always a great meal, especially when made at home. But when it’s hot, using the oven is like torture..

These flatbread pizzas can be cooked on a flat grill/griddle or on a gas/charcoal fired grill. Plus you can make the dough ahead of time, when it’s cool, and put them together right before you want to eat.

Notes

*if using meat, makes sure they are cooked before hand.
These cook super fast, so be sure to have your topping ready to go once you flip them over.
